1010-01 Systems Engineer

GO Science creates distributed sensor grids using innovative, adaptable, swarming robots. Working closely with both the Systems Team and other Engineering Teams, you will be developing a variety of models, simulations, localisation, navigation and control systems and sensor data analysis, including trials planning and conduct. You will be working within a capable systems control team focussed upon advanced mobile sensor grid architectures using novel methods and innovative technology solutions. Your customers will be some of the very biggest international Oil & Gas majors.

Must be flexible, methodical, thorough, and a strong team player.

  • Qualifications: Relevant Ph.D., M.Sc. or equivalent experience
  • Skills: Good maths background, MATLAB, Simulink, familiar with industrial specifications and Systems Engineering, offshore experience in surveys, acoustics, AUVs, sensing or ROVs would be advantageous
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years relevant industrial background.

1010-02 Embedded Software Systems Engineer

GO Science seeks an enthusiastic and talented embedded software engineer to develop real-time applications as part of its autonomous mobile sensor grid systems. The ideal candidate must be experienced in low power ARM or TI OMAP architectures including advanced signal processing concepts together with C/C++ IDEs. We seek analytical engineers who can work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams. Must have a demonstrable track record of success in real-time low power embedded software systems.

  • Qualifications: Relevant B.Sc. or equivalent experience
  • Skills: Good maths, computer science, electronics, C/C++, assembly, Linux and RT extensions, familiar with structured software design methodologies, test and verification, comfortable working in low-level hardware interface environments, offshore experience in surveys, acoustics, AUVs, sensing or ROVs would be advantageous
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years relevant industrial background.

1010-03 Electronic Systems Engineer

GO Science designs cutting-edge reliable, low-power electronic systems for a wide variety of applications operating in challenging & hostile environments. Systems include sensors, microcontrollers, motor control, acoustic communications, battery management, and many others. These systems are often safety and mission critical.

Must be flexible, methodical, thorough, and a strong team player.

  • Qualifications: 2.1 B.Eng or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Low-level power & signal electronics, surface mount design, professional-standard schematic design, including flexi-rigid assemblies. Familiar with both analogue & digital design methodologies. Good understanding of industry-standard practice & documentation. Reasonable practical skills essential, including soldering & wiring. Must be adaptable, versatile and able to work in a team.
  • Software packages: Altium, MS Office, MATLAB
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years design experience of both small signal analogue and safety-critical digital, preferably ranging from low to high volume. Audio, sonar and extremely low-power design experience an advantage.

1010-04 Mechanical & Structural Systems Engineer

GO Science designs underwater electro-mechanical systems with highly complex shapes, rugged enough to withstand the offshore environment down to 3000m, yet at a low cost and designed for high volume manufacture and maintainability. A good understanding of industry best practice, design for manufacture, and manufacturing techniques is essential.

Small component design, in-water sealing and pressure hull design experience a strong advantage. An understanding of aerodynamics or hydrodynamics would be useful.

Must be flexible, methodical, thorough, and a strong team player.

  • Qualifications: 2.1 Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years experience of underwater systems design, preferably including carbon composites and other underwater structural materials.
  • Skills: Underwater design, design for manufacture, high volume manufacturing techniques, FEA
  • Software Packages: Experienced with Autodesk Inventor 3D, other packages such as Solid-works and Pro Engineer Wildfire considered. Capable 3D modeling skills essential.

1010-05 AIT Electro-Mechanical Technician

The ideal candidate will have experience of complex offshore undersea equipment. A flexible, hands-on attitude and willingness to learn is essential. Must have a good understanding of best-practice assembly and test techniques, and have experience with assembly, integration and test of small, complex, in-water electro-mechanical devices. Prototyping and low-volume production experience essential, together with a working knowledge of quality control processes and documentation.

Must be flexible, methodical, thorough, and a strong team player. A flexible, hands-on attitude and willingness to learn is essential.

  • Qualifications: HNC in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronics Engineering (or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years relevant experience
  • Skills: Pressure test facilities, motor assembly and testing, analog or digital electronic PCB assembly integration and test, surface mount assembly, soldering, and diagnostics, complex structural assemblies and processes, inspection.

1010-06 AIT Laboratory Supervisor

GO Science wishes to recruit a highly motivated Laboratory Supervisor who would take responsibility for day to day operations within an innovative, low-volume R&D Robotics Laboratory focussed on assembly, integration and test activities. A thorough understanding of HSE, Quality Control, Assurance and small batch manufacturing processes is required while offshore systems experience is desirable.

  • Qualifications: HNC in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or similar) or equivalent experience
  • Skills: People management, computer literacy essential.
  • Software Packages: Microsoft Office, Altium
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience and a demonstrable track record of success in laboratory operations. Good understanding of industrial Quality Assurance methods & documentation. Experience with underwater equipment a strong advantage.

1010-07 Trials Engineer

GO Science seeks experienced offshore trials engineers to add value in mobile sensor grid test, evaluation, customer trials and system acceptance trials. Reporting to the programme manager or team leader the job holder will undertake the following activities:

  • Trials planning
  • HSE, HAZOPs
  • Survey methods, shallow water and deep water
  • Bathy, seismic, CSEM, positioning, inspection methods
  • Trials analysis and report preparation
  • Customer liaison
  • Qualifications: B.Sc Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Oceanography or similar
  • Skills: As described in activities above
  • Software Packages: MS Office, MATLAB
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years including relevant offshore or coastal operations in a customer facing environment

1010-08 Administration Officer

GO Science seeks a friendly, reliable Reception & Administration Officer to join its enthusiastic Robotics team at its Aztec West laboratory facility. Reporting to the Commercial & Administration Manager, the job-holder will undertake the following key activities:

  • Reception and telephone response, re-direction and logging
  • Assistance in purchasing, invoice payments, goods in / out and related records
  • Assistance in maintenance of Company time & attendance records
  • Various data entry tasks as necessary to provide for adequate administration support
  • Maintenance of project cost control record spreadsheets & reports
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years satisfactory experience in an industrial company within an administration role
